Hello, 

 

Button battery is basically gives a power backup to the printer. There are components in the printer like RTC ( Real time Clock ) that need to hold the values. When printer is powered off the button battery gives the power supply to these components. Even the Printer settings done customer are saved ( unless the printer is Reset ).
