@Perbear,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out.

I understand that you get "Paper Mismatch" error message while printing envelopes from your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer.

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should help fix this issue.

And here's the step by step guide for you in the link: Printing Envelopes (Windows)

You may also check the link for Print Driver Settings Guide: Print Driver Settings Guide (Windows)

Let me know how that works.

I hope you have a good day ahead.

I knew about the step by step.

The Device printer quide is what I do in choosing "Preferences" -  These have not changed and before this problem I could preint envelopes with no problem.

I did re load the HP Envy 5660 Device Driver.   that didn't help.

The error message includes that this cannot be performed until "one note" is used.  I updated One Note.  that want me to connecto Cloud which I don't want to do and don't understand why I need to.   Why do I need to connect to or use One Note???

this is the error message:

PAPER SIZE MISMATCH

The paper size dectected by the printer sensor does not match the selected paper size.

The envelope is placed in the envelope main tray of the printer.  I also tried setting the envelope size on a list I somehow found on the printer.

I thank you for your response and understand the situation well.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

  •  Adjust the paper size setting.
  • Check the paper source setting.
  • Reset the printer.

Thanks for the response....I did go through those steps previously.  I am used to have the envelope size atuomatically chosen from the Envelopes and Label Option window.  It made no difference when I left the HP Printing Preferences on "letter".    Previously it would print atumoatically but then something happened it would not print....

I did choose the envelope size on the printer que and reset the Printer - that didn't work.

Secondly, the Envelope and Label window used to show the name and address from Word without highlighting it.  Now it needs to be highlighted.  Something went hay wire in the automatic stuff.

THIS TIME:

I changed the HP Printing Preferences Advanced to Envelop 10 - it did print.

I changed the same back to letter and it did  print.   With it "highlighted".

Thanks .

I followed all the online suggestions trying to get around the "paper mismatch" error on my HP Officejet Pro 6975 (using Softmaker's "Text Maker"  app), but nothing worked for me.  I did, however, find a way, through experimentation:

After setting up the envelope properties in my word processor's envelope printer function (in my case, paper size was #10 envelope, centered the long way, fed with the stamp on the underside on the trailing end), I also checked the page setup properties and found that the paper size had not automatically changed from letter size to envelope size, as I would have expected it to do, so I did it manually. (The orientation had automatically changed to landscape , however, so I didn't have to change that.)  But that still didn't help.  Then I went into the HP Printer Assistant app, to "customize your printer", and noticed that under the "General" tab the "paper available" field still showed as "letter" instead of envelope.  You're not allowed to change it there, but I clicked on the "device settings" tab, which shows the current settings in an outline format with dropdowns that allow selections.  I changed the main tray's paper size to #10 envelope, and when I went back to the "general" tab, it now showed the correct size.  I then tried printing the envelope, and was finally able to do it without getting the "paper mismatch" error.

I don't pretend to understand any of this, but I find that since then, whenever I do any  printing, the paper size remains at "#10 envelope" in the "customize your printer" settings, and yet I can print either letter-size documents or envelopes, and don't get any mismatch errors. (Admittedly I have not yet tried rebooting my computer to verify that the settings will remain like that permanently.)

NOTE:  you can also get to the settings outline through Windows settings/devices/printers/(click on your printer and click "manage")/printer properties/device settings .

I hope this helps someone else.  Prior to this, I'd been taping envelopes to letter-size paper to get the job done, and I'm happy I no longer have to do that.
