HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw
Microsoft Windows 11

while loading a toner reload kit # 143a it would not rotate, I put an old used 143a toner kit in to see if it would rotate and it did, so I returned the faulty toner kit but now 1001nw printer has a drum error. This printer has only printed 3,000 copies.

@TwinSprings, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

If your HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw printer shows a drum error after dealing with a toner reload kit issue, follow these steps to address it:

  1. Check the Imaging Drum Installation:

    • Ensure the imaging drum is properly installed. Remove it carefully and then reinsert it securely to ensure proper contact.
  2. Inspect for Debris:

    • Check for any debris around the printer's imaging drum area and reload port that might be causing the error.
  3. Reset the Printer:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about a minute, then plug it back on and turn it on.
  4. Reinstall the Imaging Drum:

    • Remove the imaging drum and inspect it for any visible damage.
    • Shake it gently to redistribute the toner if necessary.
    • Reinsert the drum correctly and ensure it's properly seated.
  5. Check for Drum Life:

    • Even though your printer has only printed 3,000 copies, ensure that the drum unit is still in good condition and doesn't require replacements prematurely. The imaging drum typically lasts much longer.
  6. Update Firmware:

    • Make sure your printer's firmware is updated to the latest version via the HP website, which may address any known issues.
  7. Test with a New Toner Reload Kit:

    • Since the previous kit was faulty, ensure that the new toner reload kit is compatible and installed correctly.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
