So I uninstalled using the Uninstall option in the software package, and then reinstalled after doing Disk Cleanup.  Both wireless and wired connection approaches tested proporly with printing.  When I tried to scan, there was no connection to the printer either way.  What next?

Hi JonCowan,

Follow the steps below to check the WIA Service:

1. Type services.msc in run or search program and files

2. Scroll down to the WIA Windows Image Acquisition

3. Make sure that this service is running. Click Stop, and then Restart to make sure

4. Restart the computer

Restart the Dependencies services:

1. Click on Start, in Search box type “services” without quotes.

2. Scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

3. Double click on it and go to the tab called Dependencies.

4. 2 services should be listed.

5. Exit that window and look for Remote Procedure Call (RPC).

6. Make sure it’s on manual or if it is on Auto, just leave it. Make sure the service is started though.

7. Go to Shell Hardware Detection and Double click.

8. Set the Start up Type as Manual and hit Apply.

9. You should be able to Start the service by hitting Start.

10. Now you are done and the Twain Manager should be working and not give you an error.

Check dependencies or sub dependencies:

Right click on WIA (Windows Imaging Acquisition) selecting first properties and then the dependencies tab. It should list: Remote Procedure Call RPC  and  Shell Harward Detection

Under RPC it will then list DCOM Service Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper Go back to the main services.msc list and then right click and start all the items listed as dependencies or sub dependencies under WIA

I checked everything that you suggested.  Although the printer now finds the computer, the same message, HP CUE-Scanning Flow Component has stop working" occurs.  It also installed another copy of the printer driver.  Please supply updated software or other help from the actual programmer.  This has been going on for over a year and I'm sick of it!!!!!

Hi JonCowan,

Install the printer on a different computer, and let me know if you have the same issues with scan?

The other computer picks up the Scan very well.  This one won't even connect to the printer for scanning or printing now.

Hi JonCowan,

Since the printer installs and functions properly on the other computer. Have you recently installed any new software or updates when this issue started?

Have you recently been affected by a virus or spamware?

There are two issues.  The Cue-Scanning issue started several months ago and I certainly can't remember now.  The multiple installation issue has been going on for over a year.  HP has a long trail of records on that which I suggest that you access under my phone number and arrange for those techs to continue fixing.  The Anti-Virus has always been AVG Free.

The recent lack of access to the computer seems to be part of a bigger picture where I can't reach any USBs since this morning.

Hi JonCowan,

If you are unable to detect any devices on the USB ports you will need to have you computer checked or fixed before we can continue with fixing the printing issues.

I rebooted.  It solved the problem with the PC unable to access the USB devices.  However, the scanning and the multiple version problems remain.

May I have some new software that corrects my problem please?

Jon
