Hi JonCowan,

Follow the steps i provided to you in Message 68. If you clear the %temp% folder, and then download the software from the link i provided you will have the 7z folder in the %temp% folder. Once you have downloaded and extracted the software run the uninstall_L4.bat file to completely remove the software on your computer before you attempt to reinstall it. Let me know what you find out?

I found out that this was an absolute total waste of time, as I predicted.  I couldn't reinstall the newest SW since it got totally lost on the PC while extracting.  The new install purportedly failed and created an error file.  How do I send it to you?  However, it actually installed two copies of the driver, as usual, and Copy 1 worked.  However, it screwed up just the same way when I tried to scan.  Since the scanner works with other SW, your SW is defective.  In at least three ways.  Please fix it without wasting any more of my valuable time or send me a new printer/scanner of a different type that works.

Hi JonCowan,

I am here to assist you. If you are still unable to reinstall the printer after following the steps in my message it is possible that your operating system on your computer is contributing to the installation failures. If you are successfully able to install this printer on a different computer, but not on this one then we need to consider that there is something in the operating system on this computer which is not allowing the software to be installed correctly. Have you considered backing up your data on this computer, and then run a full system recovery?

What an unhelpful canned reply.  I'm not going to reinstall the whole OS just to get functionality on the scanner from within your software.

How do I send you the error log?  Will you have someone examine it and work with me?

What is the next simple move to correct this?

No canned replies please.

Anti-kudos.  Subtract five.
