I have tried everything here and am about to throw my printer out of the window!!  First, the usual problem of message saying printer is offline and I can't wake it up.  so I try pressing power and wifi buttons together to re-set things, no joy.   so I try uninstalling HP Smart and reinstalling. Now HP Smart says my wifi password is wrong BUT IT ISNT

Really regret buying HP!

@Neilbytheriver, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Wi-Fi password error!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand how frustrating this must be, and I appreciate your patience in trying multiple troubleshooting steps. Let's get your DeskJet printer back online.

1. Restart Everything: Power off your printer, router, and computer. Wait 60 seconds, then turn them back on.

2. Check Printer Connection: Ensure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router and there are no obstructions.

3. Reconnect Manually:

  • Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel (X) buttons together until the power light flashes.
  • Open HP Smart, click Add Printer, and follow the setup steps.

4. Verify Wi-Fi Password: If HP Smart is rejecting your password, try entering it manually (case-sensitive). Also, check if your router has dual-band networks (2.4GHz and 5GHz). HP printers typically work best with 2.4GHz.

5. Check Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes, security settings can block HP Smart from connecting. Temporarily disable them and try again.

If the issue persists, let me know the exact model number of your DeskJet, and I’ll be happy to assist further.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
