I connected my hp deskjet 2130 to the router throw a usb cable in order to use it thanks to my private network. i am able to print but not to scan.
"Hp smart" tells me: the scan function isn't available
In the full software is impossible to set the network path like the comunication door, but only the usb door is allowed.
"Hp print and scan doctor" detect the device installed in the network path but isn't able to comunicate with that and by consequence to detect the problem.
I would scan with my notebook connected the the wifi of the same network.
Is it possible to use the scan function when the device is connected to the network?

Hi,
The 2130 printer is a USB only printer.
Connecting the printer to a print server (a USB port of the router) allows print sharing only, print servers usually do not offer any scan capabilities, and a such will not allow installing the HP Software to add a scanner.
It is not possible to scan with a USB printer connected to a print server unless your router provides any such scan sharing capabilities, which is not likely with most print servers.
To allow network scanning you should use a network-enabled printer, a such will allow full usage of any feature through a network connection.
