Both black and color were low, replaced black only because that's all I print with. I have done this before but black won't print.

Hi @Char1950,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet 2755e All-In-One Printer doesn't print even after replacing the black ink cartridge, several potential issues could be the cause. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the new black cartridge is installed correctly.
  • Make sure that the protective tape has been removed from the cartridge.
  • Check the ink levels to ensure the printer recognizes the new cartridge.

Align the Printer Cartridges:

  • Align the print cartridges using the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app to ensure they are correctly positioned.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Print a test page or run a printer diagnostic report to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the black ink specifically.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Ink cartridges can become clogged, causing printing issues. Use the printer's built-in cleaning function:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel or use the HP Smart app.
    • Find the “Tools” or “Maintenance” menu.
    • Select “Clean Printhead” and follow the prompts.

Check for Firmware Updates: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Make sure your printer firmware is up-to-date. Firmware updates can resolve known issues:
    • Open the HP Smart app.
    • Go to "Printer Settings" and look for firmware updates.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Settings:

  • Ensure that the print settings on your computer are set to use the black cartridge.
  • Go to "Printers & Scanners" in Windows 11 settings.
  • Select your HP DeskJet 2755e printer, click "Manage," then "Printing Preferences."
  • Make sure the settings are set to print in black and white if that's your preference.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Corrupt or outdated drivers can cause printing issues. Reinstall the printer drivers:
    • Open the "Printers & Scanners" settings.
    • Remove the HP DeskJet 2755e printer.
    • Download and install the latest drivers from the HP website.
