2622 Prints, Copies, but won't Scan

I just bought a DeskJet 2622 to use with my Windows XP Computer (Service Pack 3, 32 bit). I downloaded and installed the driver (DJ2600_Basicx86_43.3.2478.exe). I connected the 3-in-1 printer both wirelessly and USB.

I can print. I can copy. But I cannot scan.

I ran Wireless Network Test: "No problems found..."

I ran Print and Scan Doctor. PRINTING: "Everything checks out okay with your product." SCANNING: "The scan driver is unable to communicate with the product..."

Can you try this:

HP Scan Extended

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

HP Scan Extended gives me the same "Scanner communication cannot be established..." message.

I watched some videos. I am unable to Manage Scan to Computer, because I have only the Basic Device Software. Is the Full Feature Software available for HP Deskjet 2600 with Windows XP?

There is a firmware update available on the downloads page (DJ2600_R1845A.exe). I also tried that, but it won't run.

Seems that the OS is fairly old.  Basic software only supports print.

Let's try a 3rd party software:
