HP recently disabled the HP scan app on windows 10 for some reason; I couldn't scan at all until a Geek Squad support agent found the problem (there was no notification). I now must use the HP SMART app to scan, and it doesn't seem to support using the document feeder for two sided multiple page documents. With the Scan app I could scan the front of each page, and upon reaching the end, I could turn the stack over and scan the back of each page in reverse order, and the app would interleave the page images properly, even deleting blank front or back pages after interleaving if desired.
The Scan app no longer even detects the scanner; how can I do this without having to place each sheet on the glass twice (25 pages? might as well not even HAVE a document feeder; that's 50 alignments of individual pages on the glass)? Is this a ploy to announce a new purchase option, or did they just forget that people need to scan such documents?

@jallan32, Welcome to HP Support Community!
Currently, the app does not support duplex scanning. It was designed to support a variety of scanners/printer. This somewhat limits the options available and the 2-sided scanning is not supported.
Though you can't automatically duplex scan via HP Smart App, you can set up "Scan to Email" for your printer and send it to an email configured on your iOS device. You should be able to select Two-Sided scanning from the printer screen once scanning to an email is configured.
Or, just reconfigure the HP Scan Application on your computer. Refer to the document HP Printers - How to Scan (Windows) for help.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
