Check out this post. It has a recommended solution using your phone to scan to email.

this seems to be happening with all HP models starting yesterday. I have the HP 7640 and I am not getting any attachments. I have seen other posts regarding other models with the same problem. Maybe it is an HP website problem that our mail passes through that has the problem and not necessarily our printers.
Hey HP, can you help? I have not seen any replies to any of the requests for assistance.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP forum.
Were you trying to scan from the printer front panel or using the HP Scan software?
Which email client are you using? Hotmail Outlook, gmail etc?
We just tried scanning from the printer front panel to hotmail and the attachment was there. Similarly, we tried "Scan to email" using the HP scan software and the attachment appeared on the Outlook client as well.
Would suggest if possible to try scanning to another email client, e.g. yahoo or hotmail?
Alternatively, you could use the printer Front Panel and select "Scan to Memory Device" (USB Thumbdrive) and attach it as a file to your email.
The scanned document would be under "HPSCANS" folder on your Memory Device.
Hope that helps.

Thank you. That would work as a temporary solution but it is a roundabout way to bypass a function that the printer is supposed to perform directly. I do not want to figure out an alternate way to accomplish a straightforward task that has, up to now, been working fine and is supposed to be a basic function of the printer.
HP offers scan to email and that is what I paid for. I specifically purchased this model for the sheet fed feature and the scan to email as I do a lot of work from home and emailing of documents.
I typically scan from the front panel of the printer to Outlook, Lotus, GMail, AOL. Until yesterday it was working fine. I have only had the printer for two weeks. Up until yesterday it did everything it needed to do.
I just tried it again using the sheet feeder and scanning to an Outlook email address. It is still not working. The scan to computer and scan to memory device works but I need the email to work as well.

I have a dead PC attached to the printer; I want to scan photos and documents to email from my mobile/cell phone.

I am also having the same problem using the scanner function on my HP office jet 5740. I have tried resetting the printer but still have the same issue - no attachments when I scan and email.
Please can can you advise how to resolve this problem.
Thanks

I am having the same problem. It has been working fine. This is the first time I have not actually received any attachement via email. From similar threads in the past, it looks like it is something HP has to fix with their service on their end. Hopefully we will get notified when this is fixed.
