I have an HP OfficeJet 6700. It has been working fine until last week.....it wil print but it wil not copy, scan or fax. The error message is "Unable to scan, copy or send fax." I recall seeing that an update was received on the printer sometime before that. I tried restoring factory settings, turning on/off, etc. Went through the diagnostic tool with no results. Help!!!!

For anyone with this issue. I finally called into the HP Customer Service, being ready to pay whatever it took to fix this issue. You wouldn't believe this resolution! I don't suppose HP calls it a bug, but I sure would. It was because the printer was plugged into a surge protector. HP KNOWS that this is an issue....but is that posted anywhere on these blogs???? NOOOOOOO!!! So I plugged the printer directly into the wall, did a hard reset by pulling the power cord from the back of the printer, reconnected the power and it worked. I call this a bug because there's nothing whatsoever wrong with my surge protector....it's something in the printer. They told me I can now plug back into the surge protector if I want and it'll work. BUT...that if/when it happens again, the solution is to plug directly into the wall again and do a reset again. Anyway, wanted everyone to knowabout this issue with the printers and surge protectors.

Hi Angela200,
I see that you're having problems with your scanner. I would take a look at the document below. I would also make sure printer is plugged directly into wall outlet.
Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for yourresponse Gary. That did not fix my problem. I wish there were a way to uninstall that last update on my printer. That is when my problem started. I have even tried uninstalling the drivers on my computer and reinstalling, but that does not uninstall the update on the printer itself. If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate them.
