Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
The printer paper settings may have been set to 5 x 7 photo paper?
In order to change that, go to your front panel and select Settings > Paper settings
Change the paper size on the tray
This example may be useful :
HP Officejet Pro 8730/8740 : Setup and use a "Copy" Default Tray
Time @ 3 mins shows how to get to settings, scroll down until you see Paper Settings.
This example shows you how to use the printer to copy a 2 sided document:
HP Officejet Pro 8710 / 8720 /8730 /8740 : Copy & Scan a 2 sided document using the ADF
Hope that helps!

My bad. Missed out the 1 step:
In order to change that, go to your front panel and select Settings > Tray and Paper Management > Paper settings
Anyway, @ShlomiL posted a shortcut to that.
Glad to see your issue resolved!
