Bought a very expensive HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 a few years ago. Never really used the ADF scan function until now. The quality is horrendous. $20 printers can scan better than this. Doesn't matter if i scan one or two sides with the ADF. The scan is always skewed/crooked. I spent hours online looking for a solution. Don't give me any crap about looking at the settings or resetting the printer. How do i realign the roller cartridge? The HP website says my printer is out of warranty. Obviously this was a defect from the factory. Looks like i'll be buying an Epson next:)

The allowable skew on most of the Pro and officejet products is pretty loose in my opinion. Most user guides state that if you must have perfectly straight scans you should scan off the glass or use the auto straightening option in software if supported. To the best of my knowledge there is no adjustment for the feed roller to make it scan straight and often the cause is guide rollers further along that are applying different pressure to the left and right sides of the paper and that is what causes the skew. Side guides in the adf feeder itself can be a problem as well.
