Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Hello,

I am currently using the HP Smart application to connect to my HP Color LaserJet MFP M283fdw.

I have everything setup to Scan to Network Folder and Scan to Email, but it would be great if I can add a timestamp to the filename (for network folder scans) or subject (for email scans).  This can prevent from overwriting previously scanned files.

How can I add a timestamp to the file name prefix for my scanned documents?

Thank you!

Hi @Andr-1611, the screenshot you are providing is not found in HP Smart Application.  In the Scan Shortcut and within Printer Settings, date/time are not an option when saving the file name for Scan to Email.

Hi @niccec89,

Try this Solution:

  1. Download only this file: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
  2. Close all programs

Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads double-click on the msi.

OPTIONAL:

Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
    • Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
    • Right-Click on "HPScan.exe" > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start

Kind Regards
Andr-1611
