The issue is, that the older Flash versions are not working with Win 10. They can not even get installed at all.

Hi Seravajan,

I understand the problem.

As I don't run Win 10,  I can unfortunately only suggest the following, but I don't know if that will work with the file I have placed on the web.

  1. Right-click on the setup (..exe)
  2. Go to Properties > go to the Compatibility tab.
  3. Here, tick the checkbox that says “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and choose the desired Windows version from the drop-down menu.

Otherwise, have you tried some newer versions from the website .

http://www.oldversion.com/windows/macromedia-flash-player/

Some may work in Win 10 and remain.

I think someone else must help you here. I am sorry as I have no experience of Win 10.

Regards.

Chris

I just want to report that the Flash version 10.1 IE downloadable at the link in one of my previous messages -
http://www.argestuttgart.homepage.t-online.de/flash/
Has now worked for my HP scanner software OK for about a day now.

I think this could be the solution for the Windows 7 (or earlier) people.

For the Windows 10 people, as I have no experience of Windows 10, I am afraid I unfortunately don't have a solution to offer other than:

1) Trying other versions from the "Old Software" page at http://www.oldversion.com/windows/macromedia-flash-player/

I don't know when Adobe put the switch-off into the software, but perhaps Windows 10 can digest the last listed old version, which is from July 2012.

2) Trying to install the 10.1 version using the compatibility method mentioned in my previous mail.

By the way, I think it may be better to use the IE Versions, not the non-IE versions.

Regards Chris

Hello,

I try to install your link : flash/install_flash_player_ax-ie.exe

but it can not run because I have Windows 10

Do you have a solution for me ?

Kind regards

Gaston

I also have Windows 10 and cannot load the flash player but I have found a workaround by scanning through Adobe Acrobat (the full version, not Acrobat Reader!).
Open Acrobat .... File > Create > PDF from Scanner , then choose the required option

I believe that a number of other graphics programs also have the option to create new from an input device using basic TWAIN programming but I run PhotoShop and I can't find it one there.

I appreciate that this solution is not ideal and I will continue to seek a more permanent solution but I can now scan documents again.
Hope this helps others

Hi Gaston,

I am afraid I have no experience with Windows 10.

However you should forget [content removed] as this no longer works.

You should download the Flash Player Version 10.1 Install File (install_flash_player_ax_10.1_ie.exe) from the following link:

[content removed]

Unfortunately the instruction was in German. I have changed this.

Is it not possible to install the Flash Player using the "Compatibility" option?

(Right-click on the setup (..exe) =>Go to Properties > go to the Compatibility tab. =>Here, tick the checkbox that says “Run this program in compatibility mode for” and choose the desired Windows version from the drop-down menu).

Otherwise perhaps you can google how to run legacy programs on Windows 10.

Perhaps someone else can help you. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Regards.

Chris

In my last message (above) the link to the version of Flash that works in Windows 7 was removed by the administrator for some reason.

Here it is again http://www.argestuttgart.homepage.t-online.de/flash/install_flash_player_ax_10.1_ie.exe

If it gets removed again check out some of my previous comments.

Rather than install an obsolete piece of software, you might prefer this workaround.

HI Everyone (especially Chris400),

I installed the new flashdrive that Chris pointed out and everything worked out well.

THEN

Windows did an update unbeknownst to me.

Now the Flatbed scanner software will not open AGAIN!

I did a system restore and created a point before installing the new flashdrive, but can't find out how to get it to restore to that point.  When I try to do a system restore I can't find the point I created, even following all the instructions.

I effing give up!!  Damned HP and Damned Adobe, now I throw out a perfectly working (except for the software) flatbed scanner.

I have a list of 2 products I will never use again (shell with the fuel gauge replacing due to bad gas, Gillette where they accused ALL men of being toxic) and now HP goes on that list!

If there is a class action lawsuit, I will be taking part.

I will never purchase a HP product again, as long as I live, same with Adobe.  I will actively denigrate HP and Adobe for the rest of my short life.  Sorry, can't contain my anger at this absolutely stupid situation by two MAJOR software players.

Hi Old Stock,

is it not possible to remove Flash again using the adobe Flash removal tool, or as you did before and then re-installing the Flash from my link?

You could then make a restore point. However, this will restore everything to that point.

The other option may be to locate the flash files directly after the re-installation and mark them as Read only.

They are located at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\flash\ in my Windows 7 system.

I agree that this whole debacle is a disaster. Obviously Adobe didn't consider these consequences.

The company responsible for Flash  "Harman"  is offering an unlimited Flash for only $25,000 p.a.!!

Best regards
