Hello.

On a 5640 series, I use integrated "Document Scanner program" or "hp-scan" command line.

When I scan a photo, to adjust the final size I need to do it manualy.

Is there an option to automatically detect the size of the photo and resize it at the correct size before saving ?

I wrote a python program to do it but perhaps there is a native solution.

Regards.

Relevant to Windows

The short Answer is "Yes".

Page Size = Detect Photos

====================================================

The longer answer depends on the actual method you are using to run HP Scan.

You mention HP Scan as a part of the command line formatted submission process.

I don't have direct experience with the methodology -- we do have one example in the Community explaining one member's contribution on the subject.

Start

If you are using HP Scan in a vbs batch file to automatically configure and submit a job type, the following is a good resource - the author details how the sequence is set up and then executed.

NOTE

The one example plate showing HP Scan shows the Page Size detail for "Document" (PDF) shortcut to Detect Content on Page.

(The naming convention for this type of "detect" action might be different due to printer model / software / vintage.)

That said, a similar "Detect" setting is available for Page Size  Photo / Save as JPEG >> "Detect Photos"

Thread - How to create VBS definition file for HP Scan

HP scan command line switches

============================================

HP Scan - Called as an executable in Windows

Depending on the Operating System / version and the vintage of the full driver printer software, HP Scan supports the creation of Custom Shortcuts.

HP Scan - Settings in the main menu

Scan type

HP Scan supports two types of data scans:

  • Photo / Image
  • PDF Documents

Page Size

Page Sizes are dependent on the printer model and the controlling printer software.

For example,

If your printer and its software do not support "Legal",

(then)

Page Size should be absent from the drop-down list of available page sizes.

==========================================================

Example - Windows - HP Scan - Photo / JPEG - Main Menu - More > sub-menu Scan

9025_HP_Scan_menu_JPEG_More_Image_All_79025_HP_Scan_menu_JPEG_More_Image_All_7
