I have recently started to have a problem with my all-in-one printer/scanner (HP Photosmart Premium C310a). No updates have been carried out recently. In an attempt to recover from this issue I have attempted to re-install the HP software, but continually get the following error message when attempting to scan a document to my computer (also HP):
A required software component was not found or was improperly installed. Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that came with the device, and try scanning again.
Extended error information shows the following 8, [(8, 102, 0)}
I've also seen a error code of 8,[(8, 0, 0)]
Can anyone shed some light on what is happening and how I can fix the issue?

@andy_howells Welcome to HP Community! Here's what I recommend you do:
I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:
If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.
NOTE:
Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.
See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.

@Riddle_Dechiper Thanks for taking the time to help me with my issue.
I have followed the instructions provided,
1) I uninstalled the HP Photosmart Premium C310 All-in-One Driver Software 14.0 Rel. 7 from the Apps&features.
2) the printer wasn't present after that in the Devices, Printer & Scanners section. There was a HPePrint device showing - which I did delete.
3) There were no drivers present in cmd other than the HPePrint one, which I removed also.
4) I downloaded PS_AIO_07_C310_FSW_Full_Win_WW_140_408-5(1).exe from the HP (UK) website (file size 143,221KB)
5) Ran the installation which completed.
6) Got the same error as previously !!!!
Any further ideas?

@andy_howells Yes, please remove the drivers again and use the next set of steps to install the windows built-in drivers instead, I suggest you Click here for more details on how to get this done,

I've installed the windows built-in drivers as suggested, using Add Device and the printer has appeared in Control Panel - Devices and Printers. However, although the properties show "Photosmart All-in-One Printer Scanner Copier", when I right click the device I only get printing options, there are no scan options.
HP Smart appears now to be the HP print control software, rather than Solution Center as previously. If I attempt to use this to scan from the device, the following message appears:
"HP Smart cannot scan from this printer. Either the printer does not have a scanner or HP Smart cannot use the scanner in this printer"
So I'm no further foward in attempting to use the scanner !

@andy_howells We seem to have exhausted all relevant steps to resolve the issue and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,
