Welcome to the HP Community --
The simple answer is
"No, don't do that."
=============================================
The longer answer can be a bit more complicated --
The Automatic Document Feeder supported plain paper, perhaps only standard size (A4 / Letter depending on your region).
The ADF supports one-sided scan -- this is not related to your question but is worth knowing...
- Don't load photo paper into the ADF -- the paper will likely jam, stick, balk.
- Don't load small paper into the ADF -- the object might scan but then get lost inside the printer.
- If your photos are printed on plain paper and the paper is size A4 or Letter, then sure - try that.

What else?
If you are running a supported version of Windows,
If not done, Install the Full Feature Software
HP Scan supports placing one or more photos on the printer glass and scanning the photos as a single or separate files.
