Driver Error - Unable to Communicate with the Product - Both wirelessly or via USB

I connected this device to the network and have been printing wirelessly without issues for many months.  I just tried to scan a document for the first time and it failed - both by using the software on the computer and by hitting the scan button on the officejet.

I ran the HP Doctor and it fails the Driver check.  It indicates that it is unable to communicate with the product.

I've turned the officejet off, removed the power cord, replugged it, turned it back on, restarted the computer and still have the same error.

I removed and reloaded the driver and still have the problem.

I removed and reloaded all of the HP software and still have the problem.

I've checked the firewall and it is allowing the HP product access.

How can I get this darn thing working?

Additionally, I've connected the USB cord directly from the printer to the computer and am still getting the same error.

I'm at my wits end.

Help.

Hi @MyWitsEnd

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you experiencing this issue while printing as well?

Are you able to make a copy?

While you respond to that, try these steps -

1) In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".
2) Look for HP Printer software.
3) Right-click to uninstall.
4) In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.
5) In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6) Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8) Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10) Select Ok.
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12) Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13) Restart the computer.
14) Download and install the software and drivers from here.

I appreciate your response.

As stated in my post, I am able to print without a problem.  So I have no problems with printing.

I had not previously tried to make a copy, but just attempted, and it did not work.

My post also stated that I had removed the program and drivers and have reinstalled them from the HP website to no avail.

I did it again exactly as you stated in your post and that didn't work either.

This is so very frustrating.

Thanks for trying those steps. At this point I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region so that they may help you resolve this issue via a remote access.

Have a great day!
