I am not able to scan a document using the "Create PDF"  Scan option in Adobe Acrobat Pro.  Adobe sees, and allows me to select my HP Desk Jet Pro 9015e printer.   It  goes through the motions of trying to initiate a scan but just gives me a grayed out screen with some grayed out buttons and then just freezes right there.  I actually have IOS Sequoia 15.3 and the printer driver is up to date.  I've searched high and low on the internet and Google for a solution and can't find one.

Here is some additional info regarding my problem.  The printing function via Adobe Acrobat works just fine. I can print my PDF's from the Acrobat app.  I just can't get the scan function in Acrobat to interface with the scan feature of the printer.  Like I said above, Acrobat recognizes the printer is there but can't initiate the scan operation of the printer.

Hi @tonybogey

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like a frustrating issue, but let’s work through it together!

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem with Adobe Acrobat Pro and your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e:

1. Verify Scanner Compatibility

  • Ensure that Adobe Acrobat Pro supports your scanner. Some scanners may require additional drivers or software to work seamlessly with Acrobat.

2. Update Adobe Acrobat Pro

  • Check for updates in Adobe Acrobat Pro:
    • Open Acrobat and go to Help > Check for Updates.
    • Install any available updates and restart the application.

3. Use HP Smart or HP Easy Scan

  • If Acrobat Pro continues to freeze, try scanning the document using the HP Smart app or HP Easy Scan (available on the Mac App Store).
  • Once scanned, you can save the document as a PDF and open it in Acrobat for further editing.

4. Check Scanner Settings in Acrobat

  • Open Acrobat and go to File > Create > PDF from Scanner > Custom Scan.
  • Ensure the correct scanner is selected and adjust the scan settings (e.g., resolution, color mode) to match your printer’s capabilities.

5. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Remove the HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e and reinstall it using the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

6. Test with Another Application

  • Try scanning with another application, such as Preview or Image Capture, to determine if the issue is specific to Acrobat Pro.

7. Reset Acrobat Preferences

  • Resetting preferences can resolve software glitches:
    • Quit Acrobat and navigate to ~/Library/Preferences.
    • Locate and delete the file named com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro.plist.
    • Restart Acrobat and test the scanning feature again.

I hope this helps.
