I don't use my scanner too often, the last time using Scan Smart about a year ago. The picture is long gone and there is nothing in my scanner. Every time I go to scan, this old picture comes up and I'll be danged if I can get rid of it to scan another picture. I put the new picture in the scanner, hit SCAN, and the old picture reappears. Do anybody know how to fix this? I'd appreciate the help!
Thank you

I can offer the following limited information...
"Scan Smart" appears to be Epson ScanSmart software.
I would guess that if you are not using the software, you could uninstall it from your computer.
If you want it on the computer but it does not work with your HP printer, consider using other scan software when using the HP printer.
For example, the printer software for your printer was last released in 2014 - it may still be compatible with the latest versions of Windows 10.
HP Officejet 7610 series Full Feature Software and Drivers
Other possibilities might include:
HP Scan Extended
- Download-Save-Install > HP Scan Extended
- HPSE is a subset an older Full Feature Software suite.
- HPSE features are very similar to the HP Scan Software released after 2015.
- Although HPSE appears to be a separate software, HPSE is dependent on the infrastructure provided by the Full Feature Software. The Full Feature Software for your printer should be installed before installing and using HPSE.
- OPTIONAL: Add HP Scan Extended shortcut to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- Open File Explorer > Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\HP Scan Extended\bin
- Right-Click exe > Select Pin to Taskbar / Send to Desktop / Pin to Start
- HP Scan Extended features include (and are not limited to): Single, Multiple scans, Image and PDF scans, Email as PDF / JPEG, Source selection, Page Size choices include Auto-Detect (extracts image / document boundary). May include OCR (Save as Editable Text).
NAPS2 – “Not Another PDF Scanner”
- Download-Save-Install > NAPS2
- Not another PDF Scanner – free program scans PDF files and image(s) as .jpeg or PDF file(s).
- Includes an OCR feature – may need Ghostscript add-on (See NAPS2 forum entry)
- Read the Support pages for information
- Download, save, and install the NAPS2 software to use.
Full Feature Software (Printer Software)
- Some (newer) printer models provide the "Easy Start" install method. If applicable to your printer, Easy Start will be found in the Software and Drivers website > Software. Easy Start provides installation access to the Full Feature Software.
- Download-and-Save the Full Feature Software or HP Easy Start Printer Setup for your Operating System version from your printer's Website Support for Software and Drivers
- After the installation completes, Restart the computer and log in.
- Double-Tap the Printer Assistant shortcut ion on the Desktop named for the printer
- Wait several seconds for the software to open on the screen
- Tab Print, Scan & Fax > Select Scan a Document or Photo)
HP Scan and Capture - Windows Store - Requires Windows 8 or higher
- Download-Save-Install HP Scan and Capture
HP Smart print and scan software for Windows
- Download-Save-Install > HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Windows 10)
Webscan – located in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) – No additional software
If the printer is on the network,
- Open your favorite browser > type / enter Printer IP address into URL / Address bar
- Tab Settings > Security > Administrator Settings > make sure Webscan is checked / enabled
- Tab Scan > Webscan

BOY! Do I feel stupid! That picture that kept coming up that wasn't there anymore? Well, that picture just happened to be printed on a piece of magnetic material. And the bottom of that magnetic material just happened to be a dark brown. AND, that brown magnetic material just happened to look the same color as the glass on my flatbed. AND FINALLY.... the picture was on the bed of the scanner this whole time!!! No wonder that picture kept coming up! Stupid! Embarrassed! Playing with a couple Aces short of a full deck, I guess. Then again, while you folks laugh your posteriors off at my nincompoopness.... keep in mind...my handle IS........ DUMBnEASY! LOL! I thank you all! 🙂

You are welcome.
I would wager you are not alone. Almost anything that can be done to a computer or printer has happened to someone.
I commend you for posting back. "Someone", somewhere, sometime, will see your post and be grateful. You may never know about it, but you have likely saved someone else the time and aggravation (that) you have suffered. Smiling.
Happy Printing.
