Hi @tilesetter,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a connection issue between your HP Officejet Pro 9015e and your computer when you're trying to scan. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer, either via USB cable or over your local network if it's a wireless printer. Sometimes, simply reconnecting the cables or reconfiguring the wireless settings can resolve the issue.
  • Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix connection issues. Try restarting both your printer and your computer to see if that resolves the problem.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers and software installed for your printer. You can usually find these on the HP website. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity problems.
  • Check Settings: Verify that your printer is set up correctly for scanning. Ensure that it's selected as the default scanning device on your computer and that any necessary scanning software is properly installed.
  • Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes, firewall or antivirus software can interfere with the connection between your printer and computer. Temporarily disable any such software and see if you're able to scan.
  • Try a Different Connection Method: If you're currently using a wireless connection, try connecting your printer to your computer via USB cable (if possible) to see if that resolves the issue. This can help determine if the problem lies with the wireless connection.

By following these steps, you should hopefully be able to resolve the issue and successfully scan documents with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
