I have reviewed and tried absolutely every archived post on this subject, and tried every network freaking path in the world; forward //s, backwards \\s, parts of names, whole pathways, IP address, computer name, EVERYTHING ON THE PLANET and the system cannot find the **bleep** folder. PLEASE HELP this is driving me crazy.

@Mrpoohcat, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
To assist you better, are you trying to scan to a network folder or scan to the computer?
If you are scanning to the network folder:
Create a folder and right click it (CTRL+ Left click) and select Get Info, check the box next to the Share folder.
Under the permissions, section ensure your user account have read and write permissions.
From System Preferences, select Sharing, ensure that File sharing is enabled and click the Edit / Options button.
Ensure the SMB option is checked and the user is listed and selected, add the user if required.
Now try adding the printer into the EWS page of the printer (The printer homepage, can be accessed by typing the printer URL into Safari) and under Scan select Network folder nd setup the folder using the user and password account.
Set the path as the computer IP and then the shared folder name (e.g. \\10.0.0.0\scan).
Keep me posted for further assistance.

If you read my message, you'll see I DID ALL OF THOSE THINGS, and it doesn't recognize the folder. I've tried every permutation on the planet for the pathway, to no avail. All of the permissions you mention are set correctly. Yet, still, here I am.

Let us try scanning to the computer and check if this works. Enable Scan to computer using HP Utility.
1.) On your Mac, click Finder, click Applications, click the Hewlett-Packard or HP folder, then double-click HP Utility. (If HP Utility is not available, download and install the install the printer essential software from here)
2.) Under Scan Settings, click Scan to Computer, then make sure the Enable Scan to Computer check box is selected.
3.) Try to scan.
After you complete a scan, the folder the scans are saved in displays next to the Where or Scan to option, depending on your software. Open the drop-down menu to change the folder.
Let me know how this goes.
