Cannot scan as a pdf and unable to scan multiple pages as one pdf

My PC recently packed up. I was able to scan documents as a pdf and also do multiple page scans as one document. I loaded the print software onto a new PC but it will only allow me to scan docs as jpeg and will not allow multiple page document as one scan.  I also cannot get the scan icon onto my taskbar.

Scanning issues…  Make sure you have 300 dpi set also.

Please try this scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

For Windows:   ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Check all your settings and expand all tabs and all + signs to see all options.
