I purchased an Officejet Pro 9010 this evening. I have followed the setup steps including installing HP Smart. After 3 hours, I still cannot figure out how to setup the ability to scan to email. I have created a profile in "Outgoing Email Preferences" using my Yahoo account. However, when I try to test it at the end, it fails says "Incorrect Credentials. Check your username/password and try again". I even reset my password at Yahoo to verify I was using the correct password. This is ridiculous. How do I get this to work?
(By the way, whoever wrote the "Outgoing Email Settings" portion of the software needs to be re-educated. During my first hour, I accidentally entered data in this area. When I realized my error, I tried to click the "x" to cancel the data I entered. It doesn't work. The only way I found to do it was to reset my printer back to factory defaults, remove the HP Smart software, and start all over. It only took me an hour to figure this out. I assume this section is for people on a home network. It could be more clearly explained.)

Hi,
This is due to Yahoo security restrictions using the standard authentication, using an App Specific password instead your standard password should allow the printer to connect to Yahoo’s SMTP server, please follow below steps to create and use a such:
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/generate-third-party-passwords-sln15241.html
Please let me know if that works,
Shlomi

You're welcome @tritongh,
For Gmail, open the following link and login to the same account as you set for the printer.
Note: if you are connected, sign out from your account, select your account and manually enter the password to ensure you indeed use the correct password, then click on Security from the left pane:
https://myaccount.google.com/security
Within the Signing in to Google section, check the "2-Step Verification" velue.
If it is set as "On", create and use an App-Specific Password with the printer:
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833?hl=en
If it is set as "Off", Within the Less secure app access section ensure that the feature is on.
If it is Off, click on Turn on access (not recommended) and toggle on the feature. Otherwise, the verification will fail.
Once you are done run a test for the outgoing user profile and check if the problem been resolved.
Regards,
Shlomi

I have a scan-to-email problem on a HP9010 printer. It scanned to email for about a month then stopped functioning. The userid, password, and gmail options are configured correctly in the HP9010 scan-to-email setup page, I receive a CONFIGURATION error on the setup page when testing the scan-to-email with this statement:
Configuration
To import the certificate, go to the Certificates page, and then follow the onscreen instructions.
Click "OK" to go back.
--I regenerated the Self-Signed-Certificate and verified it is not expired.
--Userid and Password is correct
--Gmail SMTP gateway and authentication method is correct
--Google "Less Secure App" is off (tried it both ways no change)
--Not using 2 factor authentication - would require a App specific password that is not needed
Any suggestions on how to get this going again?
Thanks
pastajn

Hi,
When you edit the profile, where you set the SMTP server information, there is a checkbox to validate the server certificate.
You should make sure this checkbox is not checked and follow the steps,
