When I scan a document to save as a jpg it is only showing it in width and height of 1 inch.  How do I change it to 8 1/2 X 11?

Welcome to the HP English Community --

There are so many different printers in the world -

There are at least a few common scan applications and software -- and some methods not so common.

The little information you have provided might indicate anything from the printer misinterpreting the scan content, to a missed step or an incorrect setting, to an actual mistake on the part of the printer hardware.

The last one is the least likely but is a real thing.

If you have confidence on your setup, your settings, and your method,

Perhaps Consider / Try the simple version of the Printer Reset.

"Unplug and Reset" option:

  • While printer is switched ON
  • Unplug printer
  • Wait for a minute (or a bit more)
  • Plug in printer to standard wall outlet
  • If printer does not start on its own, press / release the power button
  • Wait for the printer to completely boot (start)

Yes, you can generally scan a document and save the content as an Image file.

No, scan content should not (would not) usually shrink down to an inch square.
