My computer suddenly (after several years) is not recognizing my scanner even though I have reinstalled it several times.  The Solutions Center is also not recognizing it or my new printer

I see that you're having an issue with solution center. 

 

Now, before we start troubleshooting, what printer do you have?

Actually I got it figured out myself.  I deleted the scanner and all the software and reinstalled it.  Also, for some reason if I have my mail program open it will not allow for software to be installed.  I thought it had to do with the problem I was having with memory.  I had purchased memory through HP (actually through a vendor) to upgrade and had multiple problems.  My computer kept getting blue screen errors and locking up.  Finally the company that I got the memory from suggested putting 1 in at a time and watching how the computer behaves and seeing if one of the pieces is bad.  So far that has been working.  I have 2 more to try.

I see you are having an issue with getting your scanner to function with your computer.  What is the model of scanner/All-in-One you are using?

 

What is the operating system of the computer you are attempting to scan to?

 

How do you have the scanner connected to the computer? (USB, etc)

 

Do you have the software installed on this computer for your scanner?

 

Has it functioned in the past?

On control panel my printer/scanner is listed as a printer, scanner. All devices are connected to home network. When try to use scan function either from computer or scanner, neither recognizes the other. No problem with printing function.
