I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 Printer, Fax Scan Copy Web, and I keep getting the following error when I try to scan with the document feeder : The document feeder was not able to pick up the original. Load the original in the document feeder and try again.  This has been ongoing for over a year now and I have tried everything from the Online Doctor.

I'd suggest you follow the steps from the document Automatic document feeder does not pick paper or feeds too many sheets to isolate and resolve the issue.

 

Also, Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
