Product: Laser Printer MFPM283cdw

Color Laser Jet Pro MFP M283cdw.  My printer used to offer a double sided copying option.  Somewhere along the line, I'm guessing after an update, the double sided option vanished.  My printer now only offers one-sided, to one-side copies or one-sided to two-sided copies, but not two-sided to two-sided copies.

 

I have had this printer for less than two years, although it is out of warranty 😞 I have tried downloading drivers, followed steps using various HP support diagnostic tools and tried the virtual assistant (useless).  I deleted the printer from my Mac and reinstalled it.  The problem persists.  If anyone has a suggestion, please advise.

You need to check the installed options on the driver to make sure that it shows that the duplex option is enabled.

Hi.

The HP Laserjet Pro M283fdw model supports automatic two-sided printing only, two-sided scanning was never an option for this mode, it offers Standard single-sided ADF capabilities only:

M428 is the lowest-end Color Laser printer to support two-sided scanning, the M283fdw model doesn't offer any such:

You may select 1-Sided to 2-Sided and load multiple 1-sided originals on the ADF to get 2-sided output, or place the original on the Flatbed Glass with these settings and you will be prompt to reload the next page, then reload the other side of the original manually.
