I am having the same problem with HP Easy Scan: it hangs after scanning one side of a batch when trying to do double-sided scanning.

This is with the HP Envy Inspire 7924e that I have just purchased today. I am using macOS Sequoia 15.3.1.

I specifically bought this printer/scanner for easy double-sided scanning. Can you please let me know if you will have a fix soon or if I should return the 7924e

Hey @Dasym, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding EasyScan issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It looks like you're running into the same issue other users have reported with HP Easy Scan on macOS Sequoia. We appreciate your patience while we look into this. Since you've already got the latest macOS (15.3.1), let's try a couple of things to see if we can get scanning working smoothly:

Try Using HP Smart Instead of Easy Scan

HP Smart (available on the Mac App Store) is our newer scanning software and may work better with Sequoia. If you haven't already, please install it and check if double-sided scanning works there.

Reset the Printing System

  • Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners
  • Right-click (or hold Control and click) on your printer list, then select Reset Printing System
  • Restart your Mac and re-add the printer

Check for Driver & Firmware Updates

Even if you recently installed updates, it’s worth double-checking:

  • Go to System Settings > Software Update and install any pending macOS updates
  • Visit HP support site and check if there’s a newer firmware update for your printer

Let me know if this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for getting back to me.

Unfortunately HP Smart is not of any use. It does work, but for newer scanning software it seems to take a step backwards: there appears to be no option to interleave pages that have been scanned from the other side of the document.

However, I've found that NAPS2 software does the job perfectly.

In a direct message with the forum support staff they suggested to call phone support. Since my printer is out of warranty, I would have had to purchase that, which of course I didn’t do, since this is clearly a software issue that multiple people face.

if your printer is in warranty, I encourage you to call phone support about this issue.

HP Smart is indeed no reasonable substitute. That exact feature we‘re discussing here is not even available in HP Smart.

I‘m now using PdfScanner from the App Store. Not free, but works well.
