The save to editable text (OCR) shortcut does not appear on HP Scan after installing the universal scan driver for HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e all in one device?  Two drivers are available for this printer.  Installed one i thought would correct my problem.  Help. Thanks

@JMG1950, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Enabling Save as Editable Text (OCR) in HP Scan!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To enable the Save as Editable Text (OCR) option in HP Scan for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e All-in-One device, follow these steps to ensure proper installation and setup:

Install the Full Software and Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have downloaded and installed the Full Software and Drivers for your printer from 123.hp.com/setup.
  • If downloaded after June 2022, the HP Universal Scan software is required.

Install the HP Universal Scan Software:

  • Go to HP Software and Driver Downloads.
  • Select Printer, and then enter your printer name (HP OfficeJet Pro 8130e).
  • On the software and drivers webpage, look for Universal Scan Driver.
    • If available, select it and click Download next to HP Universal Scan.
    • Follow the prompts to install the software.

Ensure the OCR Feature is Enabled:

  • Open HP Scan by searching for it in Windows.
  • From HP Scan, select Save as Editable Text (OCR) in the list of shortcuts. If the shortcut is not visible, it indicates the need to check the installation.

Verify Installation and Updates:

  • Ensure your printer software and drivers are fully updated. You can run the HP Printer Assistant or access the HP Utility tools to check for updates.
  • Sometimes a restart of your computer might be required after installation.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
