All of a sudden, my Envy Photo 7855 won't scan on Mac OS Sequoia 15.5. It will scan to my email, but not my Mac. I've already checked for the latest HP software and reinstalled it. Ironically, my warranty expired today.

Hi @etbozo,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for contacting HP Support. We understand that your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer is no longer able to scan to your Mac after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.5, though scanning to email still works. We're here to assist you.
This issue may be related to recent macOS updates or a mismatch in scanner communication. Please follow the steps below to restore scanning functionality:
Step 1: Use Image Capture (macOS Built-In Scanner Tool)
- On your Mac, open the Image Capture app (Applications > Utilities).
- Select your HP ENVY Photo 7855 from the left-hand device list.
- Wait for it to initialize.
- Try scanning a document.
Note: This method uses macOS’s native ICA driver and may work even when HP software does not.
Step 2: Reset the Printing System
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control + Click) on the printer list.
- Select the Reset printing system.
- Confirm, then re-add the printer by clicking the "+" button and selecting your ENVY 7855.
Step 3: Reinstall Using HP Easy Start
Please reinstall the latest HP drivers and scanning software:
- Visit: HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.
- Choose macOS 15 (Sequoia) as your OS.
- Download and run HP Easy Start.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
Step 4: Use HP Smart for Scanning
If not already installed:
- Download HP Smart: HP printer setup (HP Smart app) | HP® Support
- Open HP Smart and add your printer.
- Use the Scan feature within the app.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
