Hello All. In desperate need of help please. I have a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3835 and I am not able to scan documents using the automatic document feeder (ADF). Whenever I select scan, it activates the flat bed even if pages are loaded into the ADF, and even with having heard the tone that indicates that the ADF has received the document.
Can anyone please assist?
Regards
Shaheen

Hi,
From your description I would guess you try scanning to WSD provided by Windows 10 and not by the HP Software, a such does not support ADF scanning.
From the HP Deskjet 3830 software click Manage scan to computer and ensure the feature is Enabled.
Evaluate the shown prompt with the exact name and select it under Scan > Computer from your printer, it will likely appears as Laptop with no added words, then click Start Scan and check for any difference.

Hi Shaheen,
Can you successfully make a copy from the printer itself by placing an original on the feeder and selecting Copy > Copy Document from the printer screen?
Assuming you can, what application are you scanning from? (e.g. HP Scan, Devices and Printers, HP Smart)

Hi ShlomiL. Yeah, when I feed the paper into the ADF, and on the printer's touchscreen do a copy, then it works. However, when I do the same for scanning it does not. I am not scanning from any particular application on my computer, but I am pressing 'Scan' on the printer's touchscreen, then followed by pressing 'Scan for print to Laptop'. When I am scanning single pages this is normally okay, with the scan going straight through to 'imported pictures and videos' on my laptop.
I also downloaded HP Printer and Scan Doctor, and it suggested I re-download the full driver set, which I just did as well and which didn't solve the issue.
So, I'm swimming in a sea of confusion right now 🙂
