My printer would only scan from the inside, not from the document feeder. So I went to (and clicked on download the Print and Scan Doctor and going through that process updated my driver to be able to scan through the document feeder properly.. hope this helps someone): https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/printer/scanning-issues
