HP 8600 Pro (networked)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After upgrade to Win 10 I have everything working completely except Printer to Computer scan via the Printer control panel Scan Button.   I get the "computer not found msg but the network Icon is bright blue. "  I can scan from the computer using the Windows Scan or the HP Scan utilities.  Passes fax and print test and the HP Scan and Fax troubleshooter says everything is fine.  The scan button worked  bewfore the upgrade btw.

The Printer Assistant is not here after the upgrade. I remember the interface from before.  AIO Remote, HP Support Assistant and HP Scan & Capture. The HP icon on my desktop is a shortcut to setup.exe in this folder "C:\Program Files\HP\HP Officejet Pro 8600\Bin\". Next step?

It would seem my software suite is incomplete!

Hi @Eagleshadow

I would like to see if these steps can help you enable your front panel scan again on Windows 10.

Can you try these steps to see if it works for Windows 10?

If your printer software has been updated to include the Printer Assistant;

  • Click on the HP Printer Assistant icon (It will look like your printer, and be labeled to match)
  • Under the HP Printer Assistant click on Manage Scan to Computer

Untitled.png

  • Under the Scan to Computer window, if the feature shows as Disabled, click Enable. Make sure the box is checked for 'Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows'. Click Close once changes have been made. NOTE: If it was enable and its not working; you can try disabling it, and then enable it again.

 click the enable button

Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,

i am having the same problem.  The HP Envy 5660 has quit scanning after the Windows 10 upgrade.  I have followed all the suggestions, as well as unloaded and reloaded the software.  It still does not work.  In addition, before and after I reloaded the software, I do not have the option listed in your suggestion of "Manage Scan to Computer."  Do you know how I can get that or a different suggestion so the printer will scan?  HP says my software is the latest version available.

Hi @goldenbear89

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Can you download and install the FULL feature printer software from HP for your operating system.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-5660-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6809225/mod...

Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, you will be able to print and scan.

How to Scan to Computer

Once you have installed the software:

1. Click on the printer Icon (on your desktop) and it will bring up the HP Printer Assistant.
2. Under the Scan menu, there is a “Manage Scan to Computer”, click on that.
3. Make sure that you “Enable” Scan to Computer. Also make sure the tab “Automatically start Scan to Computer when I log on to Windows” is checked if you want to make this feature permanent. (the following video will show you how)

Hope that helps!

Hi @bennettj007

The file you downloaded is the FULL feature.

Did the install went successfully?  Was there an Install error message?

If it was installed successfully, you should have a Printer icon on teh desktop,

This resource (example) shows you how to scan:

Hope that helps!
