HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e All-in-One Printer

I just replaced an HP 9010 printer that I had set up to scan to a network folder on my home Synology NAS. I never had any issues with sending scans from the 9010 control panel. So far, I have been unable to send a scan to the same network folder from the 9135 control panel. I created the Quickset using the EWS and the folder appears on the 9135 control panel as a selectable destination. When I send the scan, the printer scans the document and then displays a "canceling" notice at the top of the display. I'm able to use the scanning feature in the HP Smart app on my computer and save to the same network folder I use in the Quickset. The frustration is that the printer and computer are in different locations and that is why I need the "scan to network folder" feature to work. I never had any issues with the same feature on the 9010 printer.

True - EWS Scan to Network setup is different in some ways than the same feature in previous printers.

True, too, some of the same protocols apply --

For example,

  • The destination folder must be active (available to the printer)
  • The destination folder must be shared (open read / write permissions)
  • The printer and destination must be on the same network

I have set up three Network Folder destinations -

  • OneDrive  (personal account on Windows PC, sub-folder and file type "Image" as defined in Scan > Scan to Network defaults)
  • NAS (Data folder - shared and in group Everyone in the NAS)
  • Tests Folder (personal account on Windows PC)
  • In each Quick Set, I've used the destination's IP address as opposed to host name(s).

I have one example plate already made up for Save to Network Folder -

OneDrive is the destination in the Quick Set Profile.

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Scan > Scan to Network Folder > Network Folder Setup

OR – New Format EWS for this printer series

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Scan > Scan to Network Folder (Job Defaults)

and

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Quick Sets > Add / Edit / Copy / Delete Quick Set Profile

Your guide helped me solve the problem I was having with the "scan to network folder" Quickset creation. I had followed the instructions provided by the EWS page but was copying and pasting the NAS address from Windows file explorer which displays the path using the NAS name, "\\SYNOLOGY_4TB", and not the IP address. Once I input the actual IP address, the setup worked as expected. Thanks for the reply.
