Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

Hi,
I'm looking to swiftly replace an ancient Epson AIO with a newer model as the heads have stopped cleaning successfully.
For me the killer feature on this printer was the automatic duplex scanning from the ADF.
I've been trying to find out if any of the models of Deskjet, ENVY or Officejet have duplex automatic scanning, but it's very difficult to tell.
HP's website says "Fast, multi-page scanning with auto-document feeder." for both the HP ENVY Inspire 7900e and 6400e. But this is ambiguous.
I found a review on the web that says the 7900e "comes with an automatic document feeder (ADF) with duplexing capabilities", but again, this is ambiguous.
For the HP ENVY Inspire 7924e I can find no info about this.
I found one review that specifically states that the 7900e doesn't do auto duplex scanning.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 seems to have the auto duplex ADF, but I can't find it to buy on the HP website, maybe its an old model.
There are numerous posts out there about using the software and manually turning and reinserting the pages into the ADF to do duplex scanning, e.g. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-Copying/HP-Smart-Scan-to-pdf-from-document-feeder-will... but this is not what I'm looking for.
Can anyone highlight any models that do support this feature, even if an older model that I might have to find as old stock somewhere?

I also need borderless photo printing and auto duplex printing, by the way.

Thanks

Welcome to the HP User Community.

The OfficeJet Pro 9020 / 9025 provides automatic, single pass duplex scanning.

The OfficeJet Pro 9010 series provide duplex scanning - dual pass (pulls the paper back inside the printer and then scans the second side).

Go to the store - find your printer - read the specs.

If the spec sheet does not say "dual scan", automatic 2-sided scan, or similar, (then) the printer does not include the feature.

Single Pass compared to Dual Pass

Dual Pass is nearly the same as single pass, likely not as fast.

"Not as fast" is not an issue for casual scanning -

"Not as fast" could add up if you scan many, many documents each day.

These are more expensive machines.

The OfficeJet Pro 9025e "does it all" -- and you will pay more money for the nicer machine.

Carefully compare the specs to be sure you get what you expect.

Scanner type   ---  Easy slide-off glass, single-pass 2-sided ADF

Scanner type  ---   Easy slide-off glass, dual pass 2-sided ADF

NOTE:

The OfficeJet Pro 80xx machines do not provide automatic dual scan.

Read the specifications.

You are right:

"Fast, multi-page scanning with auto-document feeder" is not automatic dual / 2-sided scan.
