I have been trying for some time to scan documents etc but am unable to do so.  I have tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor and the message I have from them is "This tool was unable to resolve the problem even after a re-start"  Has anyone had a similar problem and was able to resolve it? Any help would be appreciated  please.

Hello @Tricia2,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!

I would like to assist you today with resolving the Scan Driver Error you're receiving when trying to scan from your HP Deskjet 3070A e-All-in-One Printer to your Windows 7 computer. Thank you for including the troubleshooting steps you have attempted prior to reaching out for support. Because the HP Print and Scan Doctor Tool was unable to resolve the driver error that you're experiencing, I'm going to run you through some manual software and driver troubleshooting steps. Can I please have you follow the steps below.

Step 1: Uninstall Device:

For troubleshooting purposes it is crucial that we have a nice clean slate to work with on your computer. Therefore, prior to performing the 'fix' I will be having you remove the HP Full Feature Software and Driver package from your system. If you're using a USB Cable connection between your HP Deskjet and your Windows computer can I please have you disconnect that cable now.

  1. Click on your Start menu
  2. Select All Programs
  3. Select the HP folder
  4. Select the HP Deskjet
  5. Select Uninstall
  6. Please follow any onscreen prompts to complete the uninstall. Once the uninstall is complete please proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Clear Temp Files:

  1. Click on your Start menu
  2. In the 'search programs and files' box located right above Start after you click on it, type %temp% and hit enter on your keyboard
  3. When the Temp folder opens, select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboard. Everything in this folder will now highlight.
  4. Select the 'delete' button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains temporary internet files. No actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting the Temp files. Should a Temp file still be used than you will automatically get the pop up to 'skip' that item.
  5. Close the Temp folder once it is emptied
  6. Right click the Recycling Bin on your desktop and select Empty Recycling Bin

Step 3: Install Device:

  1. Please click  here to download the Full Feature Software and Driver package for your HP Deskjet
  2. Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen prompts to install your printer
  3. If using a USB Cable connection, do not plug in the USB Cable until the installer screen prompts you to
  4. Once the installation is complete please test scanning again.

Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist can you please clarify if your printer is connected through a USB Cable connection to your computer, or a network connection. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck! 🙂

I have followed all the instructions, now it does not even print 😞

The 'doctor' ran all night but did not get beyond driver check when scanner selected. Windows 10. USB cable

Control Panel -> Devices and Printers shows the printer installed as default

'Doctor' is now trying forlornly to communicate with selected product. After about 10 minutes trying to communicate it offers me the selection of printing or scanning. I choose printing. It (slowly) finds an error with the print queue. I select 'Test print' - nothing happens. I click on 'no result' and after about 30 seconds a satisfactory test page does appear. That's a relief
