Nope.
Tried that already
The app description says it only works with HP devices that have ICA scanner drivers.
I have a feeling the 1312 is not such a device - which is why you can't scan from the Mac printer dialoge box (or Mac Preview or any other software that looks for scanners)... which is why the traditional HP Director or HP Scan app is needed.
The Hp Easy Scan app from the App store installs and runs just fine - but it can't find the printer. (Yes the printer is connected - it prints fine).
Please... I just need the HP Director or Scan app installation program so I can use this MFP to scan.
This is really frustrating. I have this big beautiful MFP and I can't scan?! This seems crazy.

I understand that you are getting connectivity issue while scanning.
However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,
- How is the printer connected to computer?
- Are you getting any error message when you scan from HP easy scan?
Meanwhile:
- Reset the Printing System.
- Click here and follow the document to reset the printing system.
- Add the printer again.
Keep me posted.
Cheers.

Hey there.
So the printer is a network printer - so it's on the LAN here.
There's no error using HP Scan because the printer/scanner doesn't show up on the list in that app. (But the printer shows up outside of that app and can be printed to just fine).
Within HP Scan, if you select the option to Browse Scanners... the dialog box that follows is empty.
And yes - I removed the printer and added it again. I've done that several time prior to today as well - all to no avail.

HP easy scab supports all the HP printers which are connected with Mac OS computers.

I have the exact same problem as you, but with a HP CM2302. I check on the Apple sire, the link above, and in the list below downloading of the Printer Drivers, it shows that there are two version numbers. One handles Printing and the other Fax. There is no driver from Apple here that can handle the SCAN bit.
So now it seems that this Apple driver no longer ahndles the scan, and that is probably why we do not get the Device in the HP SCAN as an option.
Ironically, this is on a new install of OSX on a iMAC. On my Macbook Pro, the Sierra was just an upgrade and the scan software and drivers were already installed, and there I can see and scan from the same device.
I did try and copy the software across, macbook to iMac, but something went wrong and I could not get that to work.
So here is my summation. There is nothing that should stop it from working. The latest Apple printer drivers is however a problem, as Apple indicates no scan capability. So when you install using these drivers, there goes the scan. Hmm I think this is an Apple Driver problem...
Did you ever get your situation resolved?

That's exactly the scenario I am dealng with... copying the app from one computer to the next did not work.
I never did resolve the problem...
But - I'll tell you this - I'll never buy HP again... if they abandon their users like this... the same in return seems appropriate.
