Product: HP Easy Scan Software
Operating system: macOS 12.0 Monterey or Sonoma
Good morning,
The HP easy scan software which worked on Mac OS Monterey in vers 1.10.0 no longer works since the update to vers 2.0.0 in February 2024.
The reinstalled vers 1.10.0 is OK.
The following message is displayed upon launch.
This software that was not available in the AppStore for macOS Sonoma in vers 1.10.0 is now available in vers 2.0.0 and does not work any better. The problem is the same.
Thanks
Best regards

Hi @FFLT ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're encountering an issue with the HP Easy Scan software on macOS Monterey and Sonoma after updating to version 2.0.0. Since you've tried reinstalling version 1.10.0 and it works fine, it suggests that the problem lies with the new version.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check for Updates: Sometimes, software updates address known issues. Check if there's a newer version of HP Easy Scan available that might have fixed the problem.
- Compatibility: Ensure that HP Easy Scan version 2.0.0 is fully compatible with macOS Monterey and Sonoma. You can check HP's official website or contact their support for compatibility information.
- Permissions: macOS Monterey and Sonoma have enhanced security features that may affect application permissions. Make sure that HP Easy Scan has the necessary permissions to access your scanner and other system resources. You can do this by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy and checking the relevant permissions.
- Reinstall or Clean Install: If the issue persists, try uninstalling version 2.0.0 completely and then reinstalling it. Sometimes, a clean installation can resolve software conflicts or corrupted files.
Refer to this document: HP Easy Scan ( Reference Video: Scan from an HP Printer in macOS )
To assist better:
- May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello, thank you for your response.
It is not possible to envisage successive installations and uninstallations.
HP Easy Scan is only available on the AppStore and there is only the update to 2.0.0.
If you search for HP Easy Scan in HP support you only find user guides. We are also referred to HP Easy Start but this software is not on the AppStore for Mac and on HP support it is only available for Windows.
So to return to an earlier version, all that remains are certain independent download sites with a lot of risks.
The only viable solution is to put a version that works in the AppStore or for HP to decide to correctly manage this software on its support site.
I will of course monitor the updates, but what is a shame is that version 2 is announced compatible with MacOs 14 which is Sonoma and that the recommendation made on the App Store concerning HP ICA is of no use because it cannot be found on the HP website or on the AppStore.
HP needs to make an effort.
it would be interesting to report the problem but HP seems to ignore this product or access to the site is well hidden.
Best regards

I have a customer who's 86 years old, fit and still in business, that gets mad at the HP (pseudo-)smart interface. He used to be able to work normally with his 6960 OfficeJet Pro until we updated his OS to Sonoma.
Apple has provided guidelines to user interface from day 1 of it's existence, at least back in 84. The fugly and totally useless UI that a not inspired developper at HP copied from a parody of a windows UI is an insult to any normal person willing to work as usuall, for no gain whatsoever.
After searching for solutions, I ended here, to see that the solutions seem to be shared via Private messages !
HP, are you really willing to commit a commercial suicide or just so embarrassed that you cannot publish:
• a solution that ALL people facing the same problems, and from what I've read there are many out there, that can be shared publicly, without having to get a personnal message from some HP support person, AFTER registation ?
• a decent scanning application respecting Apple GUI standards ?
Very sorry for venting out my frustration, but imho this problem must be taken seriously if you want your systems to be sold to Mac users, I won't recommend hp printers to my customers from now on, sorry. I already did such a boycot back in the 90's, for 10 years, when one had to wait monthes if not years to get decent Macintosh printer drivers, nothing has been learned it seems.
