Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

HP Envy 5014
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just set up my HP Envy 5014 with my wireless network (Google Fiber). It can print fine, but I can't scan documents from the printer interface. When I select scan and choose my laptop, it says "Software required. Visit hp123.com to get HP Smart...."

I have HP Smart (Windows 10) installed on this laptop, and I can scan from the HP Smart app. I have a desktop computer connected to the same network (both hardwired through ethernet) that does not have the HP Smart app. When I select that one from the interface, it scans successfully, opening the Windows Fax and Scan program to do so.

I tried opening the Windows Fax and Scan program from my laptop, and it can successfully request a scan from the printer. However, the printer interface still can't send a scan to the laptop, even with Windows Fax & Scan open.

Extra info: After trying to scan to my laptop and failing once, it no longer shows up on the printer interface as a scan destination. And now my desktop shows up twice.

Also, I have tried running the HP Print and Scan Doctor. It did not find any issues.

@Zendrick42 Welcome to HP Community!

Here's what I recommend you do: check if the copier is working fine as a stand-alone device,

And I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the full features drivers compatible with your windows and install it.
