Hello. So I went to scan a document to email and it is not working. I power on the Envy 5660 and it gives me the options to copy, scan, etc. I press the Scan button and then it says "Connecting to the Internet" with the circle going around and around, but nothing happens. After several minutes the Envy goes into sleep mode.
I tried to print from my computer wirelessly and that works fine.
Any ideas?

My printer Envy 5660 stopped being able to scan. I just get a error message saying "There was a problem connecting to the server." Nothing I try works, including the "Scan doctor." And I cannot find any phone number to call for help. Any ideas?

Hi @Dix12,
Thanks for stopping by HP Support forums! I’d like to be of your assistance!
I see that you are having difficulty using the scan to email feature. Restart your printer and then try the steps below to assign a manual DNS address to fix this issue:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
If you followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, where when you type the IP address if it says site cannot be reached. This would indicate that the printer is not connected to the correct network.
• Turn off all the devices connected on your network including the PC, Smartphones, printer, modem (if present) and router. Make sure all the devices in the network are turned off / unplugged.
• Now turn on the modem if present. Wait till all the lights are steady and idle.
• Then turn on the router. Again wait for a couple of minutes so that the lights are all steady.
• Then turn on the printer and other devices.
Now try the steps I mentioned in the above post and check. If the page is still not reachable, then try to connect the printer to the network. Follow the steps below and check:
-
Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already turned on.
-
On the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon (
). The Wireless Summary screen displays.
-
Touch the Settings icon (
), and then touch Wireless Settings.
-
Touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then follow the instructions on the control panel to connect the printer to your wireless network.
That should do the trick. Let me know!
Keep me posted,
