HP Envy 6022e scanner bar constantly blinking / flashing

Hi, I bought my new HP Envy 6022e printer yesterday. Setup completed successfully. However, post-setup I noticed the scanner bar constantly blinks when not in use, regardless of whether the scanner cover is up or not.

It is doing this while sat on the left edge of the glass. When switched off it moves to the right edge (the 'home' position?). So is this also an issue in that it should be in the home position when idle?

I've read conflicting reports that either it's normal or the light should go off when the lid is shut.... however to prove otherwise I turned off the lights in my room so it was pitch black and I can just make out through the cover that the scanner light is still flashing away.

hp support - please don't paste the KB link to the generic 'what do flashing lights mean' as I'm not referring to the lights at the front of the printer... this is referring to the bar under the scanner glass. Also, the printer is not reporting any issue but it does not mean there is not a problem.

It seems to indicate there is a fault with the unit, as I'm assuming the scanner bar should not blink when idle? I've not seen this behaviour with previous HP printers. Surely this blinking will shorten the life of the component(s)?

I have the same problem with an HP Envy 6022.

It is about two year old.

I have tried power off and rested but it still happens.

It appears to be a common issue.

I've been advised a firmware fix is coming, but so far this has not been fixed for my printer.
