Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw
Microsoft Windows 11

Like previous post, I upgrade to a new windows 11 PC and now I can no longer scan to net work folder . I get the error "Error. Your printer cannot connect the server, Press "Back" to correct server name".

I have spent two days and tried all the fixes and run the trouble shooter program. Yet no luck. That includes doing 3 re-installs.

I tend to agree with Scanner Dog's post in March of this year that it must be the HP updates for the printer software. If someone has come up with a fix I would be grateful if they could advise. Also I ask HP to take the lead and put out a fix through the program updates.

Hi @KSWoodcraft,

Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing scanning issues with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw.

Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall the drivers.

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from this weblink

Let me know if this helps.
Take care and have a great day ahead.

Hi Rainbow23

Thanks for your help below - it was appreciated. I followed all your steps but it did not work.

I still get the error

" Printer cannot connect to server - press edit to correct server name & address"

It is connected to the printer because on the control panel the new name I gave to network folder connect shows up.

Further, I went back to my old PC (win10) which it worked fine on, but now does not, even after I reset folder paths etc. It makes me think that the comments made by another person has some weight - it is the latest HP printer update that has caused the issue, and does not have anything to do with Windows 11.

Also the folder must be correct as it shows up in my "network folders"

Very frustrating for something that should be so simple to set up.

However I do appreciate taking the time to post a response

Hi Rainbow23

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. I did update firmware as set out above and the update went well. However it did not fix anything. I an still getting the same error - Cannot connect to server.

Hi @KSWoodcraft,

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to scan to network folder:
1. Open the HP printer software.
2. Go to the Scan section under Print, Scan & Fax, and then double-click Scan to Network Folder Wizard.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions.
NOTE: After you create destination folders, you can use the printer’s EWS to customize the scan settings for these folders. On the last screen of the Scan to Network Folder Wizard, make sure the "Launch embedded web server when finished" checkbox is selected. When you click Finish, the EWS is displayed in your computer’s default web browser.
Steps to set up Scan to Network Folder from Embedded web server (EWS):
1. Open the embedded web server (EWS)
2. On the Home tab, click Network Folder Setup in the Setup box.
3. Click New, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
4. After you have entered the required information about the network folder, click Save and Test to make sure the link to the network folder is working correctly. The entry is added to the Network Folder list.

You may also follow the steps from this document.

Let me know if this helps and have a nice day ahead.

Hi Rainbow23

First a big thank you for you advice. I did as you said and was advised that Scan to Network Folder only works on Local accounts, and windows 11 does not create these by default. I did a search on google and found the following solution to  create a Local account. The following is a summary of what I did and a link to the MS web page I found it on.

Scan to Network folder in windows 11 – SOLVED SOLUTION.

Windows 11 by default only makes a Microsoft account. It does not make a Local Account.

As such the HP printer cannot scan to a network folder in your MS Account,  as it works on local accounts only.

To get around this you need to go and make a Local Account as follows:

Start > Settings > Accounts > Other Users

Add Account

Click I don’t have this persons sign-in information

Click Add a user without a Microsoft account

Enter details. - Make sure you remember user name and password.

Once created – switch users on the computer to the Local account user ( Ctrl + Alt + Del - click switch user)

In the folder directory, select  This PC > Windows (C) > Users > Local user name  you made  > Documents.

In this documents folder make a new folder and share it.

Now change back to your normal account and start the HP Scan wizard – For the network folder- browse to the one you have just made under the local user. Complete the wizard setup and test. You should now be able to scan to the folder from the control panel of the printer.

TIP – In the Scan Wizard , After you have selected the folder,  tick the check box to make a short cut of the network folder on your Desk Top. This way you can access it without having to change users.

Here is a link to the MS online page I got this from

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-...

Again thank you for pointing me in the right direction, and I hope this will help others as well. I can now scan to the folder from the control panel of my printer. Very happy and very grateful for your help.
