HP OfficeJet 4630
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So, the problem developed after trying to add the 4630 to another computer.  It apparently corrupted the wireless setup and would not print on another (main) computer.  Anyway, after some fussing I decided to just reinstall the software.  More problems, software would not reinstall.  Then I found I could not get the original software to uninstall, I got a "package returned uninstall error 5" needed administrator privileges.  I found a troubleshooter from HP to apparently correct this.

Long story short, I was finally able to get the driver installed, it prints from applications OK.  HP Print and scan doctor runs just fine.  However I cannot get the HP 4630 software package to install.  I don't use the Fax, however I do want to get the scanner back.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is preventing the HP 4630 software package from installing?

So, here is the work-around.  I installed a driver from Windows for the HP 4630.  It prints from applications.  I also installed PaperScan 3 (They were running a freebie install due to the corona virus).  It scans and makes PDF files.  I now have use of the printer again.

The HP All-In-One software won't install, won't uninstall, it just hangs.  There is a 4630 printer icon on the desktop that goes to the install program (and does nothing).  There are lots of files in the Program Files/HP directory.  The installer seems confused, thinking things are installed (when they aren't).

How do I just get rid of everything HP originally installed for the 4630 so I can do a clean software install?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:

Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo

14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

15.) Restart the computer.

Once done, please download and install the software from here:
