Bought a HP OfficeJet 5230 last month. The printer works but the scanner does not. When pressing the Scan on the display screen it say go to 123.hp.com but have done and tried to download everything possible numerous times. Tried virtual agent and suggested turn off and on again. Tried to Google problem but found nothing that works. Tried help desk very difficult / long to get through. Opted for a call back. HP phoned back to say they were busy and will phone back later, but still waiting after several weeks. I think this is a software issue as opposed to hardware issue. Please can someone suggest trying anything new or an effective way to actually speak to HP support. Many thanks.

This possibly could be an issue with the printer drivers installed. Let us delete the drivers at the root level and retry:
1)In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2) Select your HP Printer
3) Select Uninstall
4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10) Select Ok
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12) Close Devices and Printers
Now, download and install the full-featured software from here.
