Up until today we have been able to scan to email with our HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Now has suddenly show that the username and/or password is incorrect ( on front display panel) or if i us the HP app on my pc is tells me there is a problem with the certificate.
FACTS:
1. no changes to usernames or passwords
2. no "know" software updates, problem occurs on printer, 2 different pcs, and on I-Phone
3. Google problem and tried all recommendations, with NO resolution.
4. All setting are back to prior "FIX" attempt.
I am a really old IT guy so I checked the certificate, good until 2047, did all of the power on resets, unplugs, and tested all other features.
so is there a fix?? or do i toss it in the junk pile and buy a new multi-purpose of a different brand, wife will not go with HP again after this issue.

@Bigdog51 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you are unable to use the scan to email.
Please Use HP Print and Scan Doctor
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program. It will automatically diagnose and fix any printer connectivity issues.
For more information, go to https://support.hp.com/us-en/topic/printscandoctor
Let's reconfigure scan to email. There are two ways to set up scan to email.
1) From HP Printer Software
2) From Embedded Web Server
I recommend doing it from the HP Printer Software.
Follow Step 1 on Page 13 from this document: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05048181
Also, refer to the below link as well.
