HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e: Scan with Android App not possible? (feature not available)

Hi, I am unable to scan on my Android device (Pixel 3, latest Android 12 installed) using the HP Smart app. When tapping the button in the app, it says that the feature is not supported by the printer.

I didnt sign up for HP+. I read that some advanced features are only unlocked when using HP+? Is mobile scanning such an 'advanced' feature?

No, Scan does NOT require HP+ service.

My Android skills are questionable - that said, I did have to install both the HP Smart Mobile AND the HP Print Service on my Android phone.  

You also need to be signed in on the HP Smart Mobile application - use your HP Account credentials.

Once signed in - optimally - the Camera Scan and Printer Scan will work...

Hi, thanks for your fast response! It works now, but it leaves me a bit puzzled why 😄

• I installed the plugin as you recommended
• Opened HP Smart again, tried to scan from my Android, still the same error message that the printer does not support this feature
• Out of curiosity, I tapped on the "copy" feature just to go back to the main menu (= I did NOT use the copy function)
• Tried the scan feature again, and now it worked

Miraculous. Will monitor it, but so far it seems to be fine. Thanks!

Frankly, any print or scan I can get from my Android phone surprises me.

Honestly, I don't think the apps are at fault most of the time.

I just pulled out my phone after I posted the answer - had to sign in  - Camera Scanned and Shared (via email).
