Officejet 6600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One Printer - H711a/H711g. Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have not been able to scan to the computer. I am able to both copy and print without any problem. I have done various reboots, power disconnects and restarts, and driver installs/updates, removal, re-install etc...

HP Print/SCan Doctor reports that it fixes the problem, but it lies. Problem continues to exist.

Hi Griso8V,

The images help, thanks! Please look at this page for the steps to fix your scanning connection: Network Scanner Connection is Lost (Windows).

I realize that you've already done some of these steps, but please follow all of the steps in the order presented here.

When you get to the Uninstall Software step, please take the extra step of making sure the printer is removed from "Devices and Printers" in the Windows Control Panel.

When you reinstall the software, make sure to choose the Full Featured Software and Driver. If you install the basic driver, you will not be able to scan to the PC from the printer control panel.

Please let me know if this solves your problem,

Hi Griso8V,

Welcome to the HP Support Forum.

The After Windows 10 Upgrade, Printer Problems Occur page walks through what steps to take if you have problems scanning after upgrading to Windows 10. Have you tried scanning with the Windows Scan App? Most Win 10 computers have this app. Search Windows for "scan", and then click on the Scan app in the results.

I hope this helps.

Yes I tried the Windows Scan app, and No it did not work.

I was also familiar with the support page you linked, but have not had success with any of those solutions.

Hi Griso8V,

I will do some research and see if I can find anything to help you.

It would help if you can give me more information about what happens when you try to scan to PC.

What scan programs have you used to initiate the scan? What happens? Do you get an error message?

Have you tried to scan from the printer control panel?

Can you tell me which print driver you are using?

Is your printer connected to the computer via USB, wireless network, or wired network?

It is connected via wireless network.

I'll have the other information for you tomorrow.

I do get an error message on the computer when it fails.

I also usually use the panel on the printer to start the scan, and that fails.

The specific error message I'll send tomorrow.

Griso8V,

You said you uninstalled and reinstalled the software. I assume you meant the HP software and drivers.  Did you try the built-in Windows 10 drivers also?

The exact message will definitely help.

When I activate the scanner from the printers panel, it eventually errs and this message appears on the computer.

Below is information on the printer drivers. I think. May not be getting you the right info.

Also, the printer is connected via wireless network.

I hope this information can help.

So I went through all the steps and the result was identified in Step 7. Currently using Bitdefender for antivirus, firewall, etc... and it is the firewall app that is blocking the communication. I will have to research with that provider for a solution.

Thanks for the help.
